This article explains how to set up the Inbound Gateway in Google Workspace, allowing you to properly receive phishing simulation emails sent by Cyber Guru.
The Inbound Gateway is the main configuration for whitelisting in Google Workspace. It sets up a mail route that Gmail considers trusted, ensuring that simulation emails are delivered correctly without being blocked or marked as spam.
Prerequisites
- Access to the Google Workspace Admin Console with admin permissions
- Sending IP address:
85.235.135.191 - Value for message tagging configuration*

Step-by-step procedure
1. Log in to the Google Workspace Admin Console
2. Go to "Apps > Google Workspace > Gmail" and scroll down to click on "Spam, Phishing and Malware".
3. Click on "Inbound Gateway".
4. Configure the Gateway
Set up the following values:
Enable:
- Check the box for "Enable"
IP Address:
Click "Add" and enter the IP address: 85.235.135.191
TLS:
- Check the box for "Require TLS for connections from the above email gateways"
Message tagging:
- Check the box for "Message is considered spam if the following regexp matches are found in the header" and enter the MESSAGE TAGGING value (found in the "Help > Support - Knowledge base" section on the platform)
- Check the box for "Message is spam if regexp matches are found"
Spam evaluation:
- Check the box for "Bypass Gmail spam evaluation for mail from this gateway; only use header value"
